Commuter Benefits

Do you use public transportation as part of your daily commute or pay for parking while at work? If so, you are eligible for this pre-tax benefit. It's an easy way to save money!

How does it work?

Until November 16, 2026:

  • Determine how much to contribute for the month.
  • Log in and make your election online at myingrambenefits.com by the 15th of the month to be effective the following month.
  • Funds are deducted from your paycheck before taxes.
  • Passes are delivered to you, and cards are loaded before the new month begins.

From November 16 to December 10, 2026:

  • January’s orders must be placed by December 10
  • Visit optumbank.com
  • When accessing your account for the first time, you will need to create a HealthSafe ID username and password. HealthSafe ID adds an extra layer of security to your account by using two-factor authentication. If you already have a HealthSafe ID from the UHC site (myUHC.com), simply sign in with your existing username and password to access your account.
  • Click on “Go to Commuter Benefits” at the bottom of the screen.

After December 11, 2026:

  • Orders must be placed by the 10th of each month

Your contributions are taken from your paycheck before taxes, which means you won't be taxed on the money you use for commuter transit or parking.

How much can I contribute for commuter transit? What expenses are eligible?

You can contribute up to $340* per month for:

  • Buses
  • Trains
  • Subways
  • Ferries
  • Streetcars
  • Vanpool

* Subject to change by IRS

How much can I contribute for parking? What expenses are eligible?

You can contribute up to $340* per month for:

  • Parking near your place of work
  • Parking near a place from which you commute to work via mass transit
  • Employer owned/leased parking

Are there any ineligible expenses?

Yes. The following are not eligible:

  • E-ZPass
  • Carpools
  • Telecommuting
  • Taxis
  • Tolls
